Human health is key to unlocking business performance: Victoria Anderson, clinical director at Better Humans Technology, recently told the Strategic HR Review how this can be achieved.

human health

At the top of every Director’s priority list is to find new ways to unlock their company’s business potential. Every strategic meeting is centred around this question – and of course, there is no simple answer. However, a good start is to ensure the people who make your company tick are looked after, both in mind and in body. Yes business health is important, but it cannot be placed in front of actual human health.

Edesix supplies North East paramedics with body worn cameras as attacks rise

The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has become the first in the country to trial body cams to counter attacks on paramedics. The body worn cameras will be supplied by UK-based market leaders Edesix (www.edesix.com).

In the last year reports of physical assaults on paramedics in the region have increased by 23 per cent compared to last year. Forty emergency NEAS staff will have access to the body cams when on calls and if an incident unfolds they can record both vision and sound, which can later be used as evidence if a prosecution is pursued.

SOLVED365 is a brand new franchise specialising in commercial cleaning. The franchise has spun out of Total Solutions Group; a multi-million-pound, independently-owned, company which was launched by Sharmin Akter in 2014.

The concept behind SOLVED365 is simple. There is huge demand for Total Solutions Group’s services right across the UK, so to meet that demand they are offering exclusive franchise territories to ambitious franchisees who, with full training in Total Solutions Group’s methods and procedures, will service both local and national account work under the SOLVED365 brand.

Sharmin Akter, who was recently crowned Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2018 Asian Business Awards, as well as a Highly Commended in the Entrepreneur category in Asian Woman of Achievement 2018 explains: “We have a phenomenal reputation with our clients and our services are in high demand all over the country. We have a large number of high value national accounts, and we want these to be serviced by our own network of ambitious franchise owners, who have been trained to work to our very high standards. More importantly though, our franchisees are trained and supported to build their business first and foremost through locally sourced work. They do this through networking, great marketing and customer referrals, so when they do get national account work from head office, it’s a really nice bonus for them.”

“This hasn’t been a hastily-made decision and we have developed a formal franchise structure with a British Franchise Association accredited consultant and piloted it successfully. We have undergone a feasibility study and we are really excited about not only what this growth will mean for us, but for the franchise owners who join us.”

“Few services are as commonly outsourced as cleaning. Cleaning remains a necessity and the potential financial, quality and convenience benefits

of outsourcing continue to provide an attractive proposition, even during periods of economic uncertainty.”

SOLVED365 franchisees will be providing commercial contract cleaning services within sectors such as offices, GP surgeries and private hospitals, schools and colleges, warehousing and distribution centres, student accommodation, hotels, care homes, retail and restaurants.

SOLVED365 franchisees will enjoy tried and tested back-office services, including call handling, HR and recruitment support, health and safety support, ongoing in-house training, marketing support and 24/7 helpline. The induction training provided is for three weeks and will be a mix of classroom based training at head office and field based training.

SOLVED365 currently has opportunities across the UK, including hot spot areas in London, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Kent, Essex, Surrey, Cobham, Redhill, Gatwick borders on M23 and A23, Reading, Oxford, Birmingham, West Thurrock and Cardiff.

Scotland’s record for creating ultra-successful entrepreneurs is second to none

As a country Scotland punches above its weight on many fronts. In particular, there can be no doubt that our ‘wee’ country excels in making extremely successful entrepreneurs.

Scotland may be a small nation of just over 5 million people, but the creation of new companies has grown more strongly than the rest of the UK, on last count it had grown by over 7%. Official figures show there were 366,000 private businesses in Scotland at the end of last year, a figure that’s increased by more than half when compared to the year 2000. Scotland’s thriving start-up community can be put down to a number of reasons, including proximity to other founders, access to talent, and a network of active investors.

“More Scots than ever are looking to start or grow their own business, and why shouldn’t they be, as the hot bed of talent up here shines as brightly as anywhere else in the UK if not the world,” explains Ceri Rogers, event director of the New Start Scotland Exhibition.

“This is very much our message in the build up toNew Start Scotland and the Scottish Business Exhibitionthis year; budding entrepreneurs need to be brave and go for it as they have all the support, networks, and talent at their disposal to make a real success out of it. The Scottish business sector is jammed full of recent success stories, such as Skyscanner or Brewdog, so people do not have to look far to feel inspired.”

For 17 years, New Start Scotland has helped ten's of thousands of people turn their dream business into a reality. It enables like-minded entrepreneurs to network with thousands of other business owners from around Scotland, and get access to top quality advice from experts in a diverse range of seminars and workshops on everything from sales and marketing to raising finance.

The Scottish Business Exhibition will also be taking place alongside New Start Scotland at the SEC this November, this is the country's leading event for Scottish corporate, mid-market and large SMEs.

Rogers adds: “As Scotland’s leading business exhibition there are obviously lots of good reasons to come along, the main one being it gives people the opportunity to  develop key new business skills and grow their network by talking to peers, getting advice and even finding new clients…. and of course you could win £5000.”

New Start Scotland and the Scottish Business Exhibition takes place on the 21st & 22nd November 2018 at the SEC in Glasgow, from 10am - 4pm daily.
